New for 2020
I am planning to prepare some one hour
classes aimed as an introduction to Yin Yoga with a view to running a monthly Yin class in the Autumn of 2020.
Yin yoga is complimentary to Hatha & it is worth noting very different in its application & intention. Hatha has us moving through asanas to stretch & strengthen. It is often both energising & calming. Yin invites us to rest in a pose & release tension & let go of any holding of our limbs, joints or muscles. Most Yin poses are seated, lying or kneeling rather than standing. Yin poses can be rested in for minutes at a time.
Hatha works the muscles & joints. Yin releases these tissues from work & instead whilst resting in the Yin poses works more deeply at rest on the ligaments & tendons which by result increases the health of the joints. Yin invites surrender to the form & to stillness.
