Person-Centred Counselling
At the tail-end of my nursing career I recognised a calling to develop my skills
supporting patients & relatives
emotional needs & formalised this
by training as a counselling therapist.
I chose the person-centred modality as this fitted my ethos & philosophy. I believe in basing my work around the clients' own understanding of their difficulties & where their needs lie. I appreciate each client as a unique individual & work with them in a warm, openness that provides the safe & available space for them to express their thoughts, feelings, confusion, hopes & doubts. I work collaboratively building a therapeutic relationship offering empathetic understanding to create a genuine connection & an environment which is free from judgement or advice.
I qualified from a BACP accredited course gaining my Post Graduate Diploma in Person-Centred & Existential Counselling in 2006. I have continually practised since that date. I update regularly to develop my skills both on courses & through experience.
I am on the BACP Register & am fully insured. I have worked part time in private practice since qualifying & have always provided time in voluntary counselling positions because I believe in the power of counselling & strive to make it available to all.
Some of the organisations I have worked for include: GP Practice; Women's Centres & Berkshire Women's Aid. I have worked at the Oxford Counselling Centre one day a week since 2014 which is a low cost counselling service. The work at this centre has given me a much broader experience including working with many male clients.
Some of the areas I am experienced in include:
Depression & anxiety
Panic attacks & social anxiety
ptsd
Stress
Low self esteem
Grief & loss
Alcohol dependency
Adult survivors of child sexual abuse
My private practice is based at Mind Garden Therapy Ltd. in Reading.
I charge £60 per session. Contact me via or ring 07513817892
Yoga as a Therapeutic Space
Yoga connects each person to their physical being & can open the way to a deeper embodied sense of themselves bringing with it a greater self-awareness & connection to their inner self & emotions. Yoga offers the space to connect with & balance the body, mind & spirit. Certainly in private tuition there is the privacy to express thoughts & feelings as they arise & to be supported at a deep level. Often people come into private yoga tuition specifically to deal with life difficulties like anxiety or stress. I can offer a very fluent & fluid capacity to care for each individual interweaving the practice of yoga within a therapeutic space & facilitating with the combined skills I have.
In yoga just as with my independent counselling practice you can be assured of my professional, safe & ethical standards whilst experiencing a warm & personal approach.
